Generate realistic posts with featured images, categories, tags and comments for development, staging and theme demos. Every item is tagged, so the cleanup button only removes what this plugin made.

Development / staging / theme demo environments only. Never run this on a live production site — fake posts and comments pollute your real feeds, RSS and search index. The Tutorial page warns you if it looks like a live site.

An empty blog
is useless to design.

A theme looks completely different with 0 posts vs 30. Archives are blank, pagination never appears, comment templates render nothing, "related posts" widgets stay empty. Every WordPress developer has hand-typed "Test Post 1" through "Test Post 5" too many times.

01
Themes need realistic data

Post grids, single-post layouts and author pages look different with 30 real-looking articles than with 3. Spin up 60 seconds of demo content and your theme review is suddenly meaningful.

02
Templates need volume

Pagination, "recent posts", category and tag archives, comment threads — they all render nothing on an empty install. Demo posts spread across a date range give every template something to show.

03
Featured images, locally

Images are drawn on your own server with PHP GD (gradient + title) and stored in the media library. No stock-photo APIs, no CDNs, no external calls — the plugin never phones home.

04
Cleanup that actually cleans

Every item this plugin generates is tagged with _ocwdb_generated. The Delete button uses that flag — your real posts, images and comments are never touched.

Three small moves.
Zero recurring cost.

All inside WP-admin under Tools → Demo Blog Content.

1

Pick counts

Tick what you want, type counts (posts: 20, categories: 6, tags: 12, comments avg: 3), pick the seed-data language (English or Dutch), and choose whether to embed the image in the post body too.

2

Generate

Click. The plugin builds posts with titles, multi-paragraph block-editor bodies and excerpts, draws a featured image for each, assigns categories and tags, and adds comments — with publish dates spread across your range.

Clean up

When you're done, hit "Delete all demo content". Only items tagged with _ocwdb_generated are removed — your manual posts, images and comments stay safe.

Tag-based cleanupNo collateral damage

Everything a WordPress theme
or plugin needs to test.

Free, no PRO tier, no feature kept behind a license key — everything below is in the one zip you download.

Posts

Realistic articles, ready to theme.

  • Titles + excerpts that read like real headlines
  • Multi-paragraph block-editor bodies (Gutenberg blocks)
  • Publish dates spread across a date range you choose
  • Tags + categories assigned automatically

Featured images

Drawn on your own server.

  • PHP GD gradient + title — no external services
  • Stored in the media library like any real upload
  • Optional embed inside the post body too
  • Gracefully skipped if GD is unavailable

Categories

Real taxonomy terms.

  • 1–10 categories created automatically
  • Assigned to posts so archives fill up

Tags

For tag clouds + archives.

  • 1–20 tags created automatically
  • Randomly assigned to each post

Comments

To exercise comment templates.

  • 0–20 average per post (configurable)
  • Realistic author names (English or Dutch)
  • Approved + dated so threads actually render

Cleanup

Tag-based, never destructive to real data.

  • Single button deletes everything this plugin made
  • Manual entries untouched — uses the _ocwdb_generated meta flag
  • Stat overview — see counts before deciding to clean
  • Confirmation prompt — no accidental clicks

Two minutes to install. Zero recurring cost.

What people usually want to know
before they install.

Answers to the questions I get most often.

Will this delete my real data?

No. Every item generated by the plugin is tagged with a _ocwdb_generated meta flag. The cleanup button uses that flag, so manual posts, images and comments are never touched. Worst case: cleanup leaves something behind. Never: removes anything you didn't generate via this plugin.

Does it contact any external service for images?

No. Featured images are drawn on your own server with PHP GD and stored in your media library. The plugin makes no external requests — no stock-photo APIs, no CDNs, no phone-home.

What if my server has no GD library?

Posts are still created; only the featured images are skipped. The generator shows a notice when GD is unavailable, so nothing fails silently.

Is this really free?

Yes. There is no PRO tier, no premium upsell, no license key. GPL v2, free to use on as many sites as you want.

Can I generate Dutch content?

Yes. The Generator page has a language dropdown with English (default) and Dutch (NL) — Dutch picks Dutch-style titles, body text and comment author names.

Does uninstalling remove the generated content?

No. Uninstall removes only the plugin's own settings. Use the "Delete all demo content" button first if you want the generated posts, images and comments removed.

Found a bug? Want a feature?

This is a one-person free project. If something breaks or you'd like an extra option (more languages, custom seed data, etc.) — drop me a message. I always reply personally.
